Kathmandu – The South Asian regional table tennis qualifying tournament for the World Table Tennis Championship will be held in Nepal.All Nepal Table Tennis Association President Chaturanand Raj Vaidya informed that the tournament will be held from November 22nd to 25th at the National Table Tennis Training Center in Lainchour.
Along with Nepal, 6 countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives will participate in the tournament. Bhutan will not participate. It is said that 5 male and 5 female players from each country will participate.
The league in men’s and women’s singles will be on a knockout basis. 16 players will be selected in men and women. Ruvin Maharjan, Pradeep Rocca, Sanyog Kapali, Vinesh Khanian and Shivsunder Gothe will compete in the men’s category from Nepal.Navita Shrestha, Elina Maharjan, Ravina Maharjan, Shikha Suwal and Ivana Thapa Magar will play in the women’s team. The players are being trained by Sanjay Aryal and Sandhya Shakya under the leadership of chief coach Sanjiv Dhungel.
Shankar Gautam is the competition director, Tejendrasinh Mahara is the competition manager and Dhamraman Vajracharya, the first vice president of the organizing association, has been given the responsibility of the management committee.The competition was announced at a press conference sponsored by Ncell Xgeata Limited, Nepali Ghar, Broadlink, Navico and others.
