iphone 15

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 and 14 Pro models were released in September 2022, but there have been rumors of the iPhone 15 long before the most recent iPhones were made available for purchase..

Even though the iPhone 15 is still a few months away, Apple finds it difficult to keep the iPhone lineup under wraps because there are so many different suppliers, some of whom end up leaking information. Four iPhone 15 models, including two 6.1-inch models and two 6.7-inch models, are anticipated in total, all in the same sizes as the iPhone 14 models. The standard iPhone 15 will be one of the 6.1-inch models, and the iPhone 15 “Plus” will be one of the 6.7-inch devices. The other two iPhones, measuring 6.1 and 6.7 inches, will be more expensive, higher-end “Pro” models. The best features will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro models to justify the higher price, similar to the iPhone 14 lineup.

According to rumors, all iPhone 15 models will have a USB-C port rather than a Lightning port, and the Dynamic Island will be compatible with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in addition to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This indicates that Apple will abandon the notch it has been using since the iPhone X for its flagship iPhone lineup in favor of a more streamlined, less obtrusive design. Because its own modem chips, which are currently under development, are not yet ready, Apple intends to use Qualcomm modem chips for the new devices. The A16 chip found in the iPhone 14 Pro models will be upgraded for the standard iPhone 15 models, but the iPhone 15 Plus models won’t.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max is also anticipated to receive periscope lens technology for improved zoom capabilities, as well as an upgrade to titanium frames, slimmer bezels, and some minor design changes. The standard entry-level 6.1-inch iPhone 15 starts at $799, while the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus starts at $899. Pricing for the iPhone 15 models is anticipated to remain the same.

Design

The iPhone 15 models, according to rumors, will resemble the iPhone 14 models, but the entire lineup will feature the pill-and-hole cutout. All iPhone 15 models will therefore lack a notch and instead feature the Dynamic Island design first seen on the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Apple will continue to offer four models: the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Max, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max. There are no significant design changes in the works. The standard iPhone 15 models will cost less, while the “pro” models will cost more and have more high-end features. The USB-C port will be used in place of the Lightning port on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, and the notch will give way to the Dynamic Island. A leaked image purported to be of an iPhone 15 Pro gave us our first glimpse at the USB-C port.

Uncertainty surrounds Apple’s decision to change the iPhone 15’s size from 6.1 inches to 6.2 inches, according to one rumor. Since such a small difference would not have an impact on case design, it is possible that some of the information was incorrect because it was based on a CAD drawing that case makers used to design cases for the new devices.

The iPhone 15 likely to feature USB Type-C, but functionality could be limited for third-party charging cables.

All iPhone 15 models may include the Dynamic Island in addition to a more power-efficient OLED display driver chip that is created using a 28nm process, enabling decreased power consumption that could ultimately improve battery life. Despite the switch to the Dynamic Island, the standard iPhone 15 models will not have ProMotion or always-on display technology. Apple will keep keeping these features exclusive to Pro devices.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Dynamic Island is expected to feature an updated design with an integrated proximity sensor, but this change will not result in notable changes to the look or functionality of the Dynamic Island. It will change component costs, and could be a move that Apple is making to lower device costs somewhat.

Color Options

It’s possible that the iPhone 15 models will come in light blue and dark pink. This year is no exception to Apple’s practice of offering the standard iPhone models in a variety of vibrant hues.

iPhone 15 Pro Exclusive Design

Although the USB-C port will be adopted by all iPhone 15 models, some design changes are unique to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Renders of the device made based on circulating details show that the iPhone 15 Pro models will reportedly have thinner, more curved bezels than the iPhone 14 Pro models.

The iPhone 15 models will resemble the iPhone 14 models with flatter edges, an aluminum frame, and glass front and back, while the iPhone 15 Pro models will only have these deeper curves. Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro lineup is anticipated to have more curved front glass that blends better into the frame and to use titanium rather than stainless steel.

Frosted Glass?

Unconfirmed Weibo rumors claim that the iPhone 15 models may have frosted glass backs, a design element that Apple has typically reserved for the Pro models. Glossy black is typically used for standard models, while frosted glass is only used on more expensive models. If confirmed, the backs of the iPhone 15 standard and iPhone 15 Pro models will both be made of frosted glass.

Case Fit

Some information on how older iPhone 14 cases will fit is provided by a set of 3D printed iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, and it appears that older cases will not be compatible with the new iPhones. Although the iPhone 15 Plus can fit inside an iPhone 14 Plus, minor changes to the iPhone 15 lineup’s dimensions will generally prevent cases from fitting.

iPhone 14 Pro cases do not function properly due to the larger rear camera housing, more curved design, and altered button placement of the Pro models.
